Pale ale. Pale ale pale ale pale ale. Pale ale? Pale ale pale ale. Pale ale pale ale pale ale pale ale. pale ale pale ale… Pale ale pale ale. Pale ale. Pale ale ”Pale ale.” Pale ale pale ale. Pale ale!
What we really want to write here is just Pale Ale… but that’s not very informative (nor should it be). We want to shout it at people. Get them excited. People nowadays rarely get excited about a pale ale. Pale Ale! This beer is a collaboration between Dugges Bryggeri and Cloudwater Brewing Co., Manchester, UK. We wanted to explore the cooperation between a soft, biscuity malt base and lots and lots of fruity hops. We wanted to make a modern pale ale staple. The one you have in your fridge at all times. The goto. The neo-session. The pale ale, pale ale, pale ale. Vienna malt and oats gives the base, American hops in abundance gives the treble. And in the middle, there’s just pure delight. Pale ale!

Tap at Gollem in Antwerp. Apparently after so many APAs and IPAs the brewers were lacking a bit in inspiration when naming this... Very thick, egg-white, foamy, dense and regularly shaped head over a hazy golden beer with warmer peachy tinge. Aroma of lime juice, lemon butter, white bread, withering basil, mango flesh, minerals, orange peel. Juicy, fruity onset of mango and tangerine matched with a gentle lime-ish sourishness, some passionfruit as well, soft and fluffy, bit creamy mouthfeel, fluffy, bready malt core, bright aromatic hop finish, tropical touch of mango and lime again, very elegant and mildly bittering with a grapefruit accent. Elegant, bright APA, aromatic and very quenching, perhaps a tad thin in the malt part but in any case cleverly hopped.

Bottled:
Pours pale amber with a slight haze. Large, thick head. Aroma is hops, pine apple, passion fruit and pine needles. Taste is hops, resin and pine needles followed by a long bitterness.

Bottle. Beer Stop, Dronfield. Hazy, pale gold. Ring of white bubbles. Nose has sweet and honeyed malts. Notes of ripe orange and mandarin. Some pine needle at the back. Taste has full on malt sweetness, turning floral and resinous bitter. Plenty of body, with a fair amount of hop oiliness. Long, resinous bitter finish. Decent. Not too vibrant, mind. A bit sweet.

On tap at Bottle Shop Bermondsey. Hazy gold lasting white head. Tropical fruit aroma. Very good in mouth like drinking tropical fruit juice. Some bitterness on the finish. Yes a hoppy pale ale. Delicious

Bottle from Bottle Baron. Hazy golden body with a thin white head. Steady carbonation. Good lacing. Aroma of orange pith and melon. Flavour of lemon and white bread. Thin to medium body with a light, oily texture. Decent but forgettable.
