This deep paprika red beer is bursting with blackberry, blackcurrant and black cherry flavours and aromas underlined with subtle caramelised malt. A delicate hint of marzipan rolls back up to the tip of the tongue before you’re left with a smooth, warming, yet dry finish.

(Cask at The Rake, Borough, London, 27 Apr 2013) Dark amber colour with foamy, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with dried fruit, toast, orange and dried apricots. Malty, fruity taste with notes of caramel, dried fruit, apricots, orange marmalade and a generous citric bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a certain malt sweetness. A bit strong, but quite well balanced and tasty. Nice one.

Cask at the Post Office Vaults, Birmingham. Pours dark amber with a thin head. Aroma is faint mango with a touch of apple. Taste has loads of mango with a strong mango, bitter finish. Lacks Oakhams usual finesse.

Cask at St Albans beer festival 2011. An amber coloured pour with a medium fluffy off white head on top. Sweet, hoppy, passion fruit aroma. Taste is similar, passion fruit, hoppy, sweet, malty, caramel. Quite rich and boozy in the US mould. Very well balanced, a really great beer from Oakham.
