Caramel brown, clear, slight off white bubbly head that dissipates quickly
Aroma of caramel, brown malts, hedgerow fruits, dab of berry fruits, good aroma
Taste of brown caramel malts, soft berry fruits, biscuity malts, toasted malts, light toffee, soft English hops
Palate - Medium carb and body, bit oily, soft mouthfeel. Finish - some more toasted malts and biscuit, easy drinking.
Overall - Decent ’Boring Brown Bitter’ - this is an example of how to make them properly - and yes, it’s not boring

Medium coarseish brown head doesn’t last. Clear deep brownish red body. Earthy sugary cinnamon bun aroma with floral notes. Dry-sweet earthy roasted sugar and cinnamon taste with spicy metallic notes. Mid-to-thin body. Mild, smooth mouthfeel. Dryish spicy caramelly earthy aftertaste with metallic notes. Nice, drinkable, perhaps a bit metallic. (0.5l bottle, from Beermoth, Manchester.)

Cask at Crate Brewery in Hackney, London on 13 July 2013. Poured a cloudy brown with not much white head. Funky aroma with a little grain and grass in there. Watery mouth feel, light sweet malts, but a rather sweaty cask flavour... Some residual bitterness. Don’t think this was in the best condition, so probably worth re-rating when the opportunity presents itself.

500ml bottle. Clear darkest copper to mahogany colour with small to average, firm, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, off-white head. Cautious aroma in general, fruity hints of berries, a touch of toffee. Taste has notes of berries, a touch of walnut, minimally hints of caramel and toffee, dry finish; really impressing, extremely soft palate, matching fine, microporic carbonation.
