Bottle, thanks to Leighton..... It pours near black with a bubbly tan head. The nose is mild roast, chocolate, toast, cocoa, natural yoghurt and faint TCP/medicinal notes. The taste is initially tangy, mild roast, toast, earth, tangy, dark fruit, light liquorice, chocolate and blueberry with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Yes it’s tangy, but actually still rather nice.

Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to Leighton for this one. Opaque dark brown beer, good bubbly tan head. Light airy palate, a little dry. Slightly odd stout this one - sourish with marmite and unsweet dark chocolate. Semi dry finish. Okay. 6.3

13 years on, this has held up well. Still have that sourish element to it, soft dark chocolate, tangy dark ripe fruits, a touch of roast. Giving this a small bump for longevity and a slightly better drinking experience.

Bottle at Bruce’s, London. You are all so very welcome! Pours thick, black-brown with a fine, creamy tan head. Dark and lightly burnt malts in the nose, hints of iodine, suggestions of tangy dark fruits. Medium sweet flavor, some tangy dark malts, mild cocoa, burnt oak, mild vinous quality, some roast. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Light dryness to finish, some bitter cocoa, charred wood, mild earth, subtle fruits. Pretty nice beer overall.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours an opaque black with a brownish head. Interesting tart cherry aroma! Fairly rich body, licorice and roasted malt - again this odd tart cherry note. Rustic but enjoyable. 060413
