Cask days 2011.
Typical pour, big bourbon woody aroma. Loads of burnt malt, soy, and coffee, with that typical trois mousquetaire sweetness to the malt profile. Light fruit, and quite a bit more roasted malts. The finish is quite sweet, and woody with a little vanilla. The more is warms the boozier it gets and whoa does the bourbon really come through and overpower. Nice stuff but a little rough around the edges.

Tasting at ChrisOs. Opaque dark brown beer, little pale tan head. Palate is slightly soft but with a crispy trailing edge. Creamy dark malt, a little dry chocolate. Something tangy in the middle. Subtle fruit underneath. Finishes light and creamy. Hides the abv well although I didn’t notice any bourbon.

Bottle (2011 version): Poured a deep black color porter with a large brown foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma if a complex mix of dark chocolate notes with light traces of vanilla and some clear notes of Citra which brings out some notes of dill that that work that well. Taste is also a weird mix between some black chocolate and light dry roasted malt notes with some very subtle trace of vanilla which clash with green hoppy notes of Citra with underwhelming notes of dill. Body is full with somewhat of an oily texture and good carbonation with no apparent alcohol. I ma probably going against the grain on this one but way too much Citra for my taste which kind of doesn’t hold well against the black chocolate and bourbon notes. Also the second use of the bourbon barrel leaves very subtle notes of bourbon which could be more pronounced.

Bouteille 750ml (2011 - 321/700).

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of Doodler. Comes as: "Grande Cuvée 2011". Pours a hazy dark brown with a tint of red and a small, beige head. Sweet slightly roasty nose with some dark dried fruit. Very sweet - almost sugary - a little licorice and cough syrup. Boozy finish. Clearly appears bottom fermented. The sweetness is a bit much. 250213

Bottle 370/700. 750mL bottle, sent from Glouglouburp (thanks a lot, Dany!), pours black with a slight amber tinge and a small tan head. Aroma of oak barrels, bourbon, some vanilla and some light roasted malt. Flavour is rich, full of loads of vanilla, oak barrels and a bit of bourbon, followed by lightly roasted malt and sweet chocolate. Elegant, very complex and full-bodied, leaving traces of vanilla and sweetness. Amazing stuff.
