Keg at Southampton Arms. Dark brown with creamy gold head. Aroma bit creamy, bit roasty, not so much, bit of choc. Taste is creamy, bit roasty, not so exciting, but alright. --- Beer merged from original tick of Black Frost Stout on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:06 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7. Reviewed from notes (just when I had thought I had everything done for a while).
Thank you, Aimmee.
This was poured into a mug.
The appearance was a dark brown to black color with a one finger white foamy head that quickly died off. Light somewhat speckled lacing roamed around the glass in a messy sort of way.
The smell had a somewhat roasty to sharp chocolate covered glazed fruity (somewhat dark, perhaps leaning towards some plum) tones.
The taste was sweet to roasty to light dark fruit.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with an entrancing smooth to English malty sweetness rolling over my tongue. I would say this was pretty sessionable.
Overall, I say this was a good English stout that I would come back to if offered again.

Bottle at the Watford tasting. Thanks to Paul. Aroma is nutty, roast malt and some jalepeneo. Opaque black coloured pour, some legs, clean thin loose light tan head. Flavour is nutty, spicy pepper, anc caramel. Nice clean ferment with some berry esters. Lingering roast, slightly sweet/ Good stuff.

Bottle picked up at Oddbins, Nottinghill. It pours darkest brown with a small beige head. The nose is roasty, sweet liquorice, cola, caramel, vanilla and aniseed. The taste is smooth, roasted malt, toast, cocoa, cola, coffee, wood and light alcohol with a bitter-sweet finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Nice balance. Decent.

Cask at Pigs Ear 2013. Black beer. An ok dark beer. Some choc. A bit bland some thickness in the mouth. But forgettable.
