A splendid accompaniment to a traditional Christmas celebration or fireside gathering.

Cask at the Waterfront, Battersea at a stated ABV of 4.5% and labelled as "Jo Jolly". A mid-amber colour, sweet biscuity malt taste, with a touch of honey; and some gentle leafy hops. Pleasant enough, but not particularly Christmasy.

Pint at the spread eagle Camden. Copper coloured pour with a loose persistent head. Aroma is nutty, twigger, sweet caramel and faint cinamon. Flavour follows with autumnal spices and leaves. sligtly sweet on the tongue.

Light bodied with fine carbonation. Good condition. Moderately dry to finish, with toasty bread, crunchy leaves, modest dry caramel, more berries. Decent.

Cask handpull at County Hotel JDW Ashford. Deep chestnut colur with tight creamy head. Good fruit, some choc malt, very drinkable, some nice hop with touch of spice cinnamon/nutmeg. Would happily drink this all afternoon
