Bottle 330ml.[ Courtesy of ??? ]. Clear dark brown black colour with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, butter notes, light smoke, sweet chile fruit. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration, coffee funnel bittet, ash bitter, chili fruit notes, pepper ? Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20121201]

Bottle from Oddbins, Blackheath. Black pour with a tan head. Coffee and dark chocolate aroma. Quite spicy. Flavours of coffee, chocolate, licorice with just a very light chilli burn. Spicy-bitter finish. Not too bad.

Tap at Craft Clerkenwell, 22/02/13. Mid black with a thin tan head that quickly dissipates. Nose is roast malt, chocolate, touch of coffee - end of caffitiere burnt stickyness. Taste comprises roast malt, brown sugars, coffee, burnt toffee, background hop presence, mineral notes, slightly peppery. Medium bodied, slightly prickly carbonation - a tad overcooked in this department, dryish finish. A decent enough porter.

Keg at Craft Beer Co, Clerkenwell. It pours near black with a small tan head. The nose is tangy, vegetal, light chilli warmth and some chocolate. The taste is vegetal, restrained chilli, soft roasted malt, tanginess and some decent bitterness. Medium body and low carbonation. Doesn’t quite have the body to pull off this flavour profile. Ok.

Bottle sample at Craft Clerkenwell. Bru pond ain’cho mums 4.2% black beer some dryness. Liquorice. Some chilli. Quite mild. Some choc ok but i dont like liqourice. Chilli is there not insistent but builds. 3.1/5

Bottle at Craft Beer Co, Islington on 8th December 2012. Almost black with rosy tan head and scant lacing. Orangey residues on glass after consumption. Rich roastiness in aroma. Roast, burnt malts in mouth, with touches of smoke and late developing tangy citrus hop note. Chilli develops nicely in finish, building as the beer warms up between sips. The above great flavour sequence is delivered on a zingy mouthfeel and a light body.
