Bold, resinous and bursting with bright grapefruit aroma, this IPA is a tribute to the decades of hard work by conservationists to restore the James River as a bounty of vibrant aquatic life, eco-friendly recreational activity, and in our case, fresh brewing water. These efforts have culminated recently with the symbolic return of the endangered Atlantic sturgeon, a prehistoric, yet majestic behemoth of a fish, spotted as far up the James River as the fall line in Richmond.

Past it’s prime but drinkable. It reminds me of the first imported IPAs I had ages ago in Japan. Pine and caramel on a medium to full body.

Bottle from Beer52. Golden-amber with a white head and a light fizz. Lemony citrus with mild pine and a little butterscotch. Mild to moderate bitterness with the right amount of sweetness to balance. Reasonably crisp and clean. It's fine but forgettable; it's a fairly standard old school IPA, pleasant and drinkable but with nothing to make it stand out or be memorable in any way.

Can. Deep orange-amber, clear, tall rocky head. Piny, lemony, touch of caramel, biscuity. Sweet and malty, resiny, citrus, biscuits. Old school and nice to have this.

The 3rd of their three flagship beers I’ve had. Yeah, they’re a super solid brewery. Great, classic WCIPA. 3rd from left.
