Got in a BIF from tasterschoice62. 16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 2/16/2016. Pours hazy orange/amber color with a 1-2 finger dense and fluffy off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of apricot, orange zest, pear, apple, white grape, banana, peppercorn, clove, light bubblegum, honey, wheat, toasted biscuit, light vanilla, herbal, floral, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, bready malt, earthy hops, and light vanilla notes; with good strength. Taste of big apricot, orange peel, pear, apple, white grape, banana, peppercorn, clove, light bubblegum, honey, wheat, toasted biscuit, light vanilla, herbal, floral, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Moderate herbal bitterness and yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of apricot, orange zest, pear, apple, white grape, banana, peppercorn, clove, honey, wheat, toasted biscuit, herbal, floral, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, bready malt, earthy hops, and light vanilla flavors; with a nice malt/bitter/spiciness balance and minimal astringent flavors after the finish. Moderate dryness from bitter/spiciness that increases through the glass, and gets slightly astringent. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth crisp, and moderately creamy/bready/sticky balance mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice Belgian pale ale. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, bready malt, earthy hops, and light vanilla flavors; and very smooth, crisp, and easy to drink for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

750 bottle date of 10/8/ 14. Dirty hazy color thin lasting head. Aroma shows me Belgain yeast, very mild vanilla, some light traces of honey. Yeah all the flavor is here and.proper but a tad on the stale side. This feels like it is a bit past its prime. Still pretty good overall.

Bottled 2/18/15 batch, drunk February and March 2015.
Amber bodied liquid is clear or nearly so, with an off-white head that is very well-retained.
Tons of esters and phenols in the nose recount pears, cherries, black pepper, vanilla, apples, currants and so forth. It’s not overpowering, nor is there any alcohol. Soft toffee and light brown bread-like maltiness add a backbone and there is little to no sign of hops. Maybe a touch of doughiness?
Two main things strike me about this beer. It’s well-done and wonderfully well-fermented/produced. There’s no dirtiness/yeastiness/blandness, no off-flavors of any sort and the carbonation and body are spot-on (fine, tight carbonation and a medium body with a soft, nearly creamy texture). But second, it’s got no real character. With all of the yeast flavors coalescing to really produce nothing striking of any sort, it’s just sort of a mouthful of malts and esters/phenols. That’s fine, though, and not every beer has to be a knock-your-socks-off, novel, crazy trendsetter. Certainly plenty of trappist character, though no one brewery stands out here. Seems more like an everyday Belgian ambree. The finish is loaded with peppery phenol and scrumptuously chewy maltiness (caramel, buttercream) and a touch of sourdough. Good stuff. Nowhere near overdone on the vanilla (would barely know it’s in there).

Draft at the brewery. Pours lightly unclear gold with a creamy, white head. Definitely some vanilla in the nose, also bread, a bit of candi sugar. Medium sweet flavor with lots of bready malts, Belgiany phenols, bubblegum. Medium bodied with fine carbonation and oily texture. Sweet finish with more sugary bread, toasty toffee, some dry biscuits, more oily vanilla. Nice stuff. Fairly novel.

Sampled from a 0.75l corked bottle @ Top Hops (BA) Bottle Share. This is a cloudy glowing orange looking one. It has a lovely big lacing off-white top and a really fresh hoppy, Belgian yeasty nose. I get traces of some faint berries and it's light tart and quite nice. In the mouth it has a lively small bubbled carbonation level and a general oily mouthfeel. Good flavors. It's near candy sweet with yeast, red sweet apples that feels really balanced. Ends in a soft dry finish. 15.06.2013
