Huge, dense, banana-yellow head, very regular, over foxy red-brown ale. Red stonefruit, lactic acid, old barrels, biscuit, fusels. Vinous, demi-sec red wine, red fruit, lactic acid, lightly sour fruit, red grapes, raisins. Light acidthinning, soft carbonation, quite slick. Very gooe and original: a Barley wine with a sourish edge, excellent. However... pizza???

Bottle from La Mise en Bière, carried by mon chou
Amber colour, bright, hazy. Smell of malt, Brett, sweat. Good body, the mouthfeel is lean, there is some residual sugar; nice base of biscuity malts; fruity, vinous, Brett charcter; some balsamic, and some alcohol; astringent in the finish; wood, loads of wood.
It's been long since I had a BFM, this shows a character that most Brett beers in North America don't have, and also the acidity is not that high.

Poured from 375mL bottle (abv listed as 11.36%; bb Aug 1, 2025; no maple leaf!). Clear bright orange with small white head. Brett nose, taste of mild brett tartness, mild vinous notes mixed in, and some underlying wood notes. Decent.

Despite the no Canadians on the label, we're fucking drinking it anyway. Dark amber, bright. No head. Vinous, some brett, a touch of wood, sweetish. Mellow tartness, more brett, sweet moderately toffeeish sugars. Seems fairly strong. So a BFM-style barley wine? I'm okay with that. The sugars round out the bugs fairly well here.

375ml @ Ryan's. Appearance: almost clear copper with a bit tan head. Aroma: some acidity as usual, a bit of bready notes, not sure where is the maple here. Taste: along the same lines, with noticeable hops in the finish. Overall: ok.

Hazy deep amber beer, decent pale tan head. Smooth palate, slightly soft, reasonable fine carbonation. The malts are slightly creamy sweet and deliver a decent amount of soft caramel. The bourbon barrelling comes over as light by BBA barleywine standards, it's not hard to find but not smacking you round the chops as you might reasonably expect. Light then and plenty fruity, the bourbon. A pleasant touch of oak induced vanilla. Another curious aspect of this one, and another reason the bourbon aspect is second fiddle - gueuzey vibes! Say what? Well I guess this is what you get for 2 years in an Amphora! It's pretty soft gueuze but has all the hallmarks. Finishes light. Hangs together well. Different and quite drinkable!
