Take some original Hammer Imperial Stout and delicately roshambo it into bourbon soaked American oak barrels. Drop the hammer and smash your way into rich, roasted caramel warmth. Break down that wall! ... or conform & be dull.

Draft at Alibi Room. Oak and dark fruits in the well-balanced aroma with a touch of black currant. Sour fruits and bitterness of roasted malt in the taste. Aftertaste with smoky notes and a touch of alcohol. Very good.

Bottle - Chocolate, cherries, vanilla and bourbon. Jet black with a think maroon head. Chocolate, bourbon, oak and a nice bitter finish with a touch of alcohol burn. Body is light to medium which is a little thin for this style. A very nice beer which may improve with a bit of age.

650 ml bottle. Pours black with light, tan head that dissipates quickly. Aromas of black coffee and bitter chocolate, wiht boozy bourbon/scotch note. Flavors are similar with additional vanilla and nutty hints. Perhaps a little to boozy and somewhat watery.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of fiulijn. Pours an opaque black with a light brown head. Sweet vanillaish roast with a whiff of Bourbon – booze rather than wood. Medium body, bitter coffeeish roast while the barrel aging rather appear like added whiskey. Not so shit hot really. 230213

Bottle from Legacy Liquor Store, Vancouver
Dark brown color, almost black, with small brown head. The aroma is not impressive, but it shows some of the barrel, together with cardboard and light vanilla. Smooth mouthfeel; not too burnt or ashy, but it plays too much with the roasted malts, and it’s not substantiated enough by the malt and chocolate; it also has some light sourness, and some cardboard. Correct bitterness, with pleasant alcohol warmth.
Good but not elegant.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a large brown foamy head with good retention and lacing. Aroma consists of vanilla and wood with some light dry roasted malt. Taste is also a solid mix of vanilla notes with light woody notes and some black chocolate. Body is below average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Well brewed and quite enjoyable though a fuller body would have been better.
