Bottle from the Bottle Bank. Appearance - dark brown with some red chinks. Nice fawn head. Nose - bread, brown sugar and raisins. Taste - more fruit with a dark chocolate note with hazelnuts and some booze. Dry burnt bread finish. Palate - medium bodied with a dry middle section and a fairly pleasant dry malty finish. Overall - interesting but it didn’t blow me away.

Cask @ Leggers Beer Festival, Dewsbury. Dark but clear with a thin head. Has a good roasted malt aroma and a sweet roasted malt taste with a bushy aftertaste.

500ml bottle from the brewery online shop. Pours clear ruby brown, no head. Aromas of chocolate and nuts. Taste is more of the same. Thin, sweet. Ok.

Clear dark red copper colour, small foamy tan head, reduces after a while to a thin layer, fine lacing. Sweet roasted nose, caramelized malt, (milk) chocolate, coffee. Mild medium sweet and bitter taste with chocolate, coffee and roasted malts. Medium body, oily to light creamy texture, soft carbonation, mild roasted bitter finish hat lingers on...

I was very kindly sent this by the brewery,big thanks! Drinking this sat at home 27.06.13 Pours mid to dark brown with nice foamy small bubbled off white light tan head. I had this after the XT 99 Roast Cacao and I have to say the XT was so nice that I wondered how this could possibly compete, but compete it did, this is bloody marvellous. Maybe I have just got a dark beer porter/stout head on tonight I don’t quite know, but I love this just as I loved the XT beer, both are very chocolatey, soft and smooth. This really impressed me, I honestly thought that this would be the weaker of the three Penpont beers I had, but not at all. Initially there is a lovely chocolate rush carried on a smooth velvety blanket of soft bubbleyness, then a nice roasty bitter note takes over and coats the roof of the mouth ensuring that this is far from one-dimensional, in fact that roast note carries for some time, there is a little liquorice but it is a sweet liquorice and really adds to the smooth chocolate. I have thoroughly enjoyed this, marvellous beer. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8

Bottle 500ml.Clear medium to dark red brown colour with a average to large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, chocolate, caramelized malt. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long to average duration, chocolate, dark malt. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20130104]

Bottle @ Late Night Fonefan/Brugmansia Tasting, January 2013. Pours amber with a small creamy head and lacings. Fat caramel and toffee in the nose. Some dusty liquorice, chocolate and vague roast. Medium bodied.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours a clear reddish brown with a creamy beige head. Very sweet vanilla roast aroma. Medium body, subtle roast, heavy on the milk chocolate with a subdued bitterness. 050113

50 cL bottle. Pours dark brown to amber with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted malty and light breadish. Toasted malty and caramelish. Breadish and caramelish flavoured into the finish.
