Bottle bought whilst on holiday in West Country. This is a delicious traditional style dark porter, pours very well, with just right tan head on almost black ale. Full bodied and rich, with a not overpowering chocolate aroma.

Bottle at Chrisoโ€™s Easter tasting 2012. It pours deep amber-brown, with a hint off-white head. The nose is caramel, earth, leather and chocolate. The taste is sweet caramel, tangy dark fruit, soil, mud, cardboard, roasted malt, leather and a touch of malt vinegar, with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. So-so.

500ml bottle. Pours a very dark ruby brown with a large tight tan head. Aroma is liquorice and bitter coffee. Liquorice starts with a bitter coffee finish. Berries in the aftertaste. Not watery bit could be fuller for nearly 6%.

On gravity at the Tuckers Maltings Beer Festival, Newton Abbot 23/04/10. Black with next to no head. This was my last beer of the festival and my notes are sparse. However, from memory, this was a good porter with plenty of chocolate and dark fruit, some back coffee and a warming alcohol finish.
