With Dave away in India, it was time for another guest brewer! This time sees the welcome return of Dean from Newton Abbot (@devondonkey) who has brewed commercially at several breweries down in Devon, makes some adventurous and excellent homebrew and, most importantly, loves hops!
With literally hundreds of Kilos of hops to play with after our massive deliveries recently we were spoilt for hops to use but, this being a low-colour Maris Otter and wheat malt only brew, decided to pile in the fruity ones with the dreamteam of Citra, Galaxy and Simcoe being used for flavour and aroma plus a hefty dose of Herkules for bittering and our last Super Alpha pellets in the FV... oh yes, and our very last (for the foreseeable future, sadly) Sorachi Ace!
We only lightly fined this brew (in style with the new realisation that beer doesn’t have to be crystal clear to be good, quite the opposite in most countries in fact) which keeps in more of the flavours and, we feel, is the way cask ale should be heading; hazy not cloudy, full of hops and packed with vitamins and other goodies.

Cask at the Reading Beer Festival 2012. Pours lightly hazy gold with a bubbly, foamy white head. Great aroma of dry citrus, lemon, straw, hay. Lovely flavor, light to medium sweet with juicy lemon, lightly toasted straw, pale malts and biscuits, light pee. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Crisp and clean to finish, lightly sticky and resinous with more straw and mild grass. Exceptional golden ale. The type of stuff you drink by the bucket.

In bocca amaro deciso e persistente, agrumi, limone, lieve astringenza. Corpo medio-basso, carbonazione soft. Not my cup of tea.
