Hazy brown with a creamy tan head and a lovely aroma of brown sugar and a hint of liquorice. Creamy smooth with brown sugar and softly roasted malt to the fore, a touch of hop bitterness, aniseed and a dry finish

Handpull cask atvthe Two-Tailed Lion, Leicester. Mahogany and slightly translucent with a small beige/khaki head. Wonderful American brown aromas: lots of oak, vinous notes, warming spice, chocolate, horehound candy. Sweet taste, masses more oak, with hoppy bitterness toward the finish. Oily body with no carbonation. All in all a cracker of a style we see far, far too rarely.

Cask @ Gas Lamp, Manchester. Perhaps the most imaginatively named brown ale in existence, with the young server seemingly oblivious to its reference. Hazy brown with a creamy-frothy head, crisp tasting as well. Has moderate brown ale tasting malts.
