The people of Tampa Bay have fallen prey to a pirate invasion annually for well over 100 years. After more than a century of failing to repel these seafaring raiders in their anachronistic wooden ships and despite access to modern sea, land and air arsenals that ostensibly should make short work of wind powered vessels equipped with naught but cast iron cannons and raging scurvy, it occurred to the folks of Cigar City Brewing that if you can’t beat them, start saying “Arrrr Matey!” We have brewed Invasion Pale Ale, a citrusy, tropical and low-alcohol session beer brewed for those long days of marauding, pillaging and pirating. Cheers!

12oz can. $9.99 sixpack. Bold hops, the Simcoe jumps out at you like a good West Coast IPA, the Mosaic sort of grounding it in more modern hop tone. Crackery, simple, sublime. Easy drinking. The lack of filtration helps flesh it out.

Can. Mitchell’s Wines, Sheffield. Medium gold. Light haze. Film of lacing, white head. Nose has hints of pine bark and candied peel. Some flora. Taste is a little sweet, with a light fruit bitterness. Light to medium body. Fine carbonation. Light bitterness to finish. Ok.

Draught pour. cloudy orange. I am surprised this is rated so highly. there is nothing wrong with it, but flavor and aroma are mild. Some fruit, mild hops. Seems light on flavor and palate. Drinkable, but nothing new here.

330 ml can from Beerfox bottle shop, Riga. Pours golden yellow, just some chill haze there, thin layer of white foam. Dry hoppy and tropical nose, fresh fruits there, sweetness still quite hidden. Tastes fresh and hoppy as well, grassy herbal bitterness, measured but as body is not too strong, then hops are a dominant partner in this relationship. Long dry hoppy bitterness lingering in the finish. Decent refreshing hoppy pale ale, good one from Cigar City.

I wonder how this beer was stored prior to selling. Because 4 beers scoring like this the hops are muted. It's an OK happy beer but nothing special.

Pours a clear, pale golden yellow, with minimal head. Aroma is very grassy and floral. Flavor is also quite grassy, with some spruce/pine hop bitterness for good measure. I'm not tasting citrus or tropical fruit here...
