Tap sample at Uiltje Bar. Dark brown colour, beige head. Aroma of milk chocolate, some dark fruits, malts, hint of green pepper. Flavour is medium sweet to sweet, milk chocolate, dark fruits, malts, light roast, chili burn in the finish. Medium to full bodied. More like a Quad, but OK beer anyway.

Tap at Kaapse. Clear dark reddish brown with small dark beige head. Sweet chocolate, licorice, molasses, light chilies indeed, soft citrus, brown sugar, light roast. Quite sweet and medium bitter. Over medium bodied with slick feel, doesn’t feel one second like an 11% Beer. Nice one.

Tap at Kaapse. Black with thin white head. Sweet deep roasted chocolate malts, rye, charcoal, dark fruits, subtle light chili. Massive sweet and bitter with very subtle chili spiciness. Full body and soft carbonation. Burnt sugar crystals are raining down on my teeth like in a meteor storm while a mild chili campfire burns to keep me warm. Nice. --- Beer merged from original tick of Dark Chilly Pond on 03 Jan 2018 at 12:39 - Score: 8

Collab of an Italian craft brewery with Cigar City, a stout flavoured with chilli peppers and chocolate. Bottle of 37.5 cl, from De Hopduvel in Ghent. Thinnish, irregularly lacing, pale greyish beige head, slowly diminishing over a hazy, very dark brownish bronze beer, bordering on black but still fully translucent under bright light. Aroma of hazelnut paste, milk chocolate bars, brownies, fig juice, elderberry syrup, ruby port, wood glue, treacle, liquorice, stewed plum, dried peach, muesli, brown bread, chestnuts - but hardly any chilli in the nose. Sweet onset, dried banana and candied fig, old raisins, sourish blackberry juice-like note, soft carbonation, slick and bit oily mouthfeel, though not as thick as I was hoping for. Very nutty malt body, resiny caramelly effect, chocolate flavour increasing towards the end without becoming over the top; ends caramelly sweet with the chilli heat coming through, softly burning, over a strong, whisky-like alcohol effect, a bit too astringently so for my personal liking. Nutty and a bit toasted but lacking in the thick, viscous roasted coffee bitterness I was hoping for, too boozy in the end but generally a very enjoyable beer, though I was expecting more from a brew with the name Cigar City attached to it.

Tap @ Brouwcafe de Molen. Dark color, short creamy head. Aroma of dark roast and chocolate, bit mocha and a slight subtle chili. Medium roasty bitterness, quite creamy texture, just a tiny bit of bite of the chili. Well balanced, good one.
