650 ml bottle. A deep amber body with a small off-white head. Aroma has caramel malt, burnt sugar, dry fruit, wood, Christmas spices and alcohol. Flavor has sweet caramel malt, wood, dry fruit, raisins, some alcohol and a nice spicy touch. Medium to full body, feels perfect. A nice, tasty and complex beer, just a tad too much alcohol but this will probably be reduced with some aging.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, 2012 bottling. Pours fairly clear deep red amber color with a 1 finger foamy off white head with good retention, that reduces to ring of lace that lingers. Minimal spotty lacing on the glass. Aromas of caramel, raisin, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, bourbon, toast, light oak, and light herbal. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of malt, spices, and barrel notes. Taste of raisin, caramel, brown sugar, toast, cinnamon, bourbon, ginger, allspice, nutmeg, light oak, and herbal. Lingering notes of dark fruit, caramel, brown sugar, cinnamon, bourbon, ginger, allspice, nutmeg, and herbal on the finish for a good bit. Very nice flavor balance and complexity of malt/spice/barrel notes; with zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a slick and fairly creamy mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice Christmas ale. Great balance and complexity of malt and spice flavors with moderate barrel character; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

650ml bottle. Clear deep dark red colour with small to average, frothy, diminishing, minimally lacing, off-white head. Spicy aroma has lots of cinnamon, some orange, in the background typical whiskey flavours: vanilla, leather. Taste is a moderately sweet, slightly inharmonic conglomeration of the same flavours, additionally hints of alcohol. In spite of the plethora of flavours almost a bit watery.

65 cl bottle @ lusikka, no BBE info
Aroma is sweet with glögg, juicy notes, some spices and vanilla. Flavour has spices, vanilla and glögg. Quite juicy feeling in the flavour side too. And some vanilla and oaky notes from the barrel. Quite juicy, unique and good, barrel has been really good for this one. Beer in the form of glögg.

Taste is spicy, with lots of glogg, gingerbread, hints of warming alcohol, wood and vanilla. Finish is sweetish and spicy with hints of gingerbread and vanilla. Nice, quite tasty and surprisingly well balanced spicebomb.

Bottle, 22oz. A semi-clear, dark brown beer topped by a small, beige head. Raisins, spices, gløgg-spices that is, dark malts, caramel hints, generic dried fruits, some woody notes and a touch of caramel sauce. A vinous touch too. The flavor is mostly spiced, in a really nice way, still it’s quite balanced, with enough maltyness to deal with the spices. Caramel sauce and some hints of dried fruits. A really pleasant spiced beer, seems like Hoppin Frog knows how to use the spices. 121219
