Pundie is a measure of beer that used to be given free to brewery workers on certain days of the year. Traditionally a strong beer, the name gave rise to the colloquial term for a brewery; a pundie house. This term in turn was mashed into the word booze!

A great burnished copper strong ale. The malty palate is finely balanced Saaz hops to give a full flavoured yet refreshing beer.

On cask at the Haymarket. Appearance - golden amber with a decent head. Slight haze. Nose - toffee and more toffee. Taste - toffee with the merest hint of biscuit and spice. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy and sweet texture and I’d just like a cleaner drier finish. Overall - decent.

Gravity cask at the Bedford Beer Festival. A shade lighter than honey brown. Very clear. Aroma of malt, orange juice, cinnamon and clove. With such an exciting bouquet, I am somewhat disappointed by the taste: very middle-of-the-road malty bittersweet. However I’m more keen on the spicy honeyed citrus finish, and the beer as a whole does grow on me.

Cask handpull at Montagu Pyke London. Pale brown slightly hazy. An ok sweetish strong bitter. That isn’t very bitter. Ok caramel flavour.
