...whoa. All the glory of Expedition Stout with the added bonus of bourbon barrel-aging. Can’t argue with that. Unsweetened chocolate, coffee, licorice, molasses, fig, caramel, vanilla, and oak, underlined by delicious, delicious bourbon. Exceptional, even for a style where exceptional is the norm.

Draft in snifter after a meal. Rich and luscious palate. Roast malt and chocolate. Very smooth for the high ABV.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a dark brown foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of intense black chocolate notes with residual sugar notes and some nice bourbon, oak and vanilla notes. Taste is a great mix of black chocolate notes with some residual sugar notes, light tobacco notes with some smooth vanilla, oak and bourbon notes with light warming alcohol notes. Body is full with nice creamy texture and good carbonation with light warming alcohol notes. Pretty much perfect BA imperial stout.

Bottle from Craft Brewed shared with the CB crew. Pours a deep brown to black with a finger of beige head that dissipates. Huge cacao nib, oak and date forward nose. Some fig and more cacao nib as it warms. Smooth oak with strong cacao nib notes. Almost some faint smoke or umami that creeps out as it warms. Tons more date, fig and prune with bourbon and more oak. Elegant, complex and deeply rewarding as a sipper.

From a 12 oz bottle. Aromas of whiskey and dried plums. Flavors are sweet pit fruits with some oak and vanilla. A winner for sure.

Bottle - viscous black, headless pour - rich bourbon, oak, and vanilla aroma without being overly boozy - slick mouthfeel - complex bourbon and oak flavor, with superbly masked alcohol - Cocoa, espresso, vanilla - sweet, but not overly so, with a slight balancing acidity - a tasty variant of a classic American imperial stout, but I prefer the original.
