JDW Paramount, Manchester 25 Jan 13. Gyldenbrun. Lavt skum med litt lacing. OK fruktaroma. Fersken. Smaken forsiktig men en aner litt frukt. Blir syrlig etter hver. Rosiner i avslutninga. I søtligste laget.

Cask at the Craven Arms, Birmingham. Poured a clear medium amber with a bubbly white head. The aroma is malty but a little weak. The flavour is medium to weak bitter, with malt and citrus notes. It’s a nice enough beer but lacks the complex flavours that I’m looking for. It’s more of an inoffensive real ale for me and a. introduction proper beer for those who have yet to see the light.

Cask, half pint, late night at the Castle Hotel. Clear, dark amber coloured body. Bright naked surface. Aroma is a mix of resin and bready malts. Leafy hops in flavour overlaid by malty sweetness leading to a dry bitter finish. Pleasing (Manchester, 06.07.2012).

Cask at Castle Hotel, Manchester 4.Jul.2012. Looked dark amber to me, but hard to tell as I was enjoying it late in the evening and the bar wasn’t well lit. The small dense head was easy to spot, though.Malty aroma with a hint of smoke and fruit. First the malty sweetness, then you taste what reminds of cherry and sunflower seeds. The carbonation gives it an interesting sting.

Slightly hazy copper colour. Lightly fruity taste with a bit of apple present. Rather thin and watery. Ok but a bit boring, much like the music of the band who created this beer.

A sweet berry aroma hides what is quite a spicy but nice tasting ale in the palate.

The Magpie Nicholsons. Clear amber beer. Light and dry palate. Mild fine carbonation. Very tangy orange hops with Liptons lemon tea. Turns a little sweeter before the dry finish.

Pours golden with a nicely proportioned creamy head. The nose has apples but not the bad apple note! The taste is more apples plus a zing of lime! The palate is light but balanced throughout and there’s a clean finish. Overall, a good beer!
