(Draft at Kernel Spa Road Taproom, London, 22 Nov 2025) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted, hoppy nose with notes of chocolate, coffee, liquorice and pine needles. Malty, roasted, hoppy taste with coffee, chocolate, liquorice, pine needles, citrus, grapefruit and a generous citric/piney bitterness in the finish. Medium body, dry. Hoppy and well made porter, leaning slightly in the black IPA direction. Very nice.

Cask, 5,5%. Smooth, slightly roasty and herbal hoppy with some spicy vibes, grass, pine, chocolate, fruits and lingering bitterness. Super crushable and tasty black IPA, works great on cask too.

Bottle (6.1% ABV) from House Of Trembling Madness. Black body with a thick beige head. No visible carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of charred wood and cranberry. Flavour of minerals, red berries and dark chocolate. Medium body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. This is a nice hoppy dark beer. I’m always surprised that hoppy dark beers aren’t more commonplace.
