  Stout - Oatmeal Regular

It pours a rich, deep black and white in colour so we thought the name Pica Pica (scientific name for a Magpie) suited perfectly. Expect a balanced sweetness throughout with notes of roasted nuts and coffee.

Cask at Cross Scythes, Sheffield. Clear, darkest plum colour. Thin, tight, tan head. Very seductive! Roast malt, coffee grind aroma. Taste sets off a bit thin, decent dry, roasty finish though.

Cask @ Old Hall Inn, Chinley [171013]
Black, lots of ruby light through, beige dense head, good lacing
Aroma of soft roast, dab of chocolate, light overall
Taste of soft roasted malts, dark fruity plain chocolate, hint of dark fruits, nice chocolate
Palate- Thin to medium body, smooth texture, bit too thin though for an oatmeal stout, soft bitter roast. Finish of soft roast, touch of burnt roast, some fruity cocoa in linger
Overall - Bit too thin, expected this to be a bit better than it was as it’s a Thornbridge, but still a decent stout

Cask at the Rake. It pours deep brown with a quickly diminishing beige head. The nose is earth, roasty, toast, mild smoke and salted caramel. The taste is mild roast, toast, earth, charred wood, cocoa, ash and decent bitterness with a very dry finish. Medium body and low carbonation. Unfortunately a bit watery for my liking.

On cask @ Coach and Horses, Dronfield - Opaque black body with large tan foam head. Aroma-coffee malts with alcohol smoothness. Hint of spiciness and caramel. Mild carbonation, caramel, coffee. The beginning is uncomplicated but is made up for by a smooth as silk caramel middle with gentle non-bitter coffee end that is so smooth, maybe some maple. Very good.
