You can spot a true original a mile off. Like our Original brew. Bristol born and made to stand out. Created from Maris Otter malt and a secret blend of English hops. Meticulously crafted before ‘craft’ was even a thing. Its distinctive bitter, clean and refreshing flavour has been Bristol’s go-to for good times since the 1970’s. From the first sip to the last drop, you’ll never taste a beer quite like it.

Light brown colour. Flavour has a big, round malt flavour with light sweetness. Nice dry finish where complex but not dominant hops come through.

[500ml bottle that Dad shared with me - cheers!] Amber with a moderate off-white head and a light fizz. Dry from the off. Malt dominates from the start, with a little pithy citrus and a hint of roasted coffee in the background. Nice enough bitter, albeit maybe a little on the dry side for my liking. c6

Bottle from Sainsburys. Amber coloured with a slight, off-white head and bit of carbonation. Bready malt aroma with some hedgerow fruit and dusty hops. Slightly sweet, cereal malts with a touch more fruit and lingering bitter finish. A good bottled bitter.

50cl bottle from Sainsburys. Pours amber with a loose cream head; straightforward hoppy aroma with just a touch of farmyard; rich, chewy caramel malts, with some fresh, nettley hops and a dry finish. Very drinkable.

500ml bottle. Pours dark amber with a medium head. Aroma is bready malt and peppery hops. Some caramel to start and the bread and peppery hops are in the finish. Good beer but I reckon it would be much better on cask.
