A Wit Bier brewed with our friends from Fife, FUTTLE. Brewed with organic Hallertau Tradition hops, malted barley, raw wheat from a landrace population grown on the Balcaskie estate and seaweed foraged from the East Neuk of Fife adding depth, and a slight salinity to this twist on a classic style.

Can direct from Newbarns webshoppe. It pours pretty clear pale buttermilk yellow with a fluffy white head. The aroma is aromatic, fragrant, herbal, spiced, angelica, touch of liquorice allsorts, damp green vibes, crispy seaweed, umami, custard creams biscuits and clove rock. The taste is crispy, dry, snappy, crunchy, biscuit, cracker, custard creams, brioche, fragrant, floral, peppery spice, herbal accents, damp grass, seaweed, saline aspect, salty crackers, touch of bitterness and some warming clove with a drying, floral finale. Average body and moderate, prickly carbonation. Super interesting. Nice depth and rather unique. Works well for me. Love futtle as well as Newbarns, so this is right up my street.

Can from Against The Grain. Hazy pale golden body with a white head. Low carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of sea salt and lemon. Flavour of minerals, white pepper and grass. Medium body with a frothy mouthfeel. Light fizz. A tasty Wit with a nice salinity from the seaweed.

There was an interest rate cut by the Bank Of England today, visiting Newbarms Brewery there was no cut in measures here as I enquired about third's for some strong stuff only available in half pints like everything else. I relented and came down to this solid wit style at five percent... just a half. Found a mild saline influence, which might go unnoticed if you don't know how the beer is brewed.

Can from Appellation Wines.
Appearance - cloudy yellow with a nicely proportioned snow white head.
Nose - lemon and banana with a slight edge of green hop (possibly seaweed).
Taste - creamy banana and fresh lemon, and yes, there is a lightly salty seaweed note and something resembling tomato plant.
Palate - light bodied with a creamy middle and lovely zesty finish.
Overall - great stuff!
