Our second Hopfenweisse utilises the wonderful we get from the United States. Thousands Of Words still maintains its delightfully full body, but the editions of El Dorado and Sabro provide some juice to pair alongside the typical yeast profile. How does it compare to its NZ counterpart? Let us know!

440ml can from Farmers Bar, Avenue K. Poured a hazy yellow golden colour with a short-lived, frothy white head. The aroma is grainy, tropical citrus. The flavour is moderate sweet and bitter, with a fresh, smooth, grainy, juicy pineapple lime, light yeasty, hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.

440 ml can, as Cloudwater Hopfenweisse Thousands of Words. ABV is 5.5%. Hazy yellow colour, moderate white head. Pleasant aroma of citrus and various tropical fruits. Lovely flavour of citrus, with melon and tropical fruits in the background. Low bitterness.

Pours hazy pale yellow gold with a decent white cap. Decent amount of clove, banana, bubblegum, bready notes and citrus vibe. Decent, refreshing hopfenweisse. Solid stuff.

LCI SbS of two Cloudwater Hopfenweisse, they are really leaning into this style. Sabro here is adding some roundness but doesn’t work as well with the banana notes for me

Panda thanks to Cloin. A mild haze on this slightly dirty looking gold beer, thin off white head, very short lived. Thinnish palate, semi dry, good fine minerally carbonation. Thin malts, a decent level of sweetness. Sabro, loud and clear! Coconut, mild ripe pineapple and, for only the 2nd time if memory serves, a fair amount of banana! Crisp pine throughout. Light and semi dry finish. Different! Mild hop spice lingers on..

Can at home, picked up from 73 Enid Street, 24/01/25.
Hazed orange topped with a decent lasting just off white head.
Nose is oranges zest, nana, clove, grass, herb, hint of grapefruit.
Taste comprises bitter orange, herb, pineapple, straw, wheaten bread, light spice.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close spiked with mellow hop bitterness.
Tidy hopfenweisse but not quite up to the level of the NZ version.
