Cask at William IV. Pale blond, not much white head. Aroma is herbal, maybe deep heat, clove? Quite sweet. Taste is very herbal and more deep heat. Lots of booze, bit too much for a saison maybe. Imperial saision? Quite strange and the overwhelming deep heat booziness put me off a little bit, but quite interesting.

Cask (handpump) @ Old Coffee House, 49 Beak Street, London, Greater London, England W1F 9SB.Unclear - hazy medium yellow colour with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, moderate hoppy, orange - citrus. passionfruit. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, passionfuit, hoppy, plastic notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20120115]

From cask dispense at the Old Coffee House, Soho (Feb ’12). Pours a slightly hazy light golden/blonde with a very small frothy white head Fruity citrus notes predominate along with a little grass/hay and earthiness Flavour wise this beer is lacking somewhat! Only very faint hints of citrus fruit, quite a light malty taste, some spice and an alcohol taste, just not a lot going on but not unpleasant! Mouthfeel was fairly light to medium, minimal carbonation, easily drinkable In summary - OK. I don’t think the serving temperature championed this beer or style, too cold! Flavours perhaps came out a little more as my glass/beer warmed! Not a very saison like saison and can’t believe it was 8%, nothing to justify this high ABV other than a faint background alcohol taste. Serving type: cask

Cask at King William for Thomas’s 30th celebrations. It pours hazy straw yellow, with a thick white head. The nose is farmyard, hay, straw and some citrus peel. The taste is citrus peel, herbal, tart grapefruit, fruit salad, hay, straw and farmyard, with dryness in the finish. Medium body, soft carbonation and very well hidden alcohol. Clean, refreshing and crisp.

Cask at the Old Coffee House, London. Pours clear gold with a foamy, white head. Pretty nice aroma, some dough, spice and yeast. Flavor not quite as good, though still decent. Medium sweet, with some candi sugar, bread and light grass. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Medium sweet finish, lightly sticky, some yeasty bread, candi sugar, faint spice, light piney and grassy bitterness. Certainly doesn’t drink like 8%, which is nice. It’s not bad. It’s not a saison, and it’s not bad.

On tap at the King William. Light haze on this gold beer, little off white head. Smooth semi dry palate. Moderate carbonation. Fruit salad sweets flavours balanced by a little piney hop. An unusual combo, but not bad! Smooth semi dry finish with a trace of alcohol. Much like the other Brodies Saison - not particularly Saison like but decent enough. Oh! And it ain’t summer!
