On tap @Brouwcafe de Molen. Pours black with moderate bubbly tan head. Aromas of alcohol, dark berries and roasted malts. Flavors of bitter dark berries, bitter coffee, dark licorice, and roasted malts. Noticeable alcohol. 2016 vintage - maybe still needs some aging.

4yo bottle. Black colour, brown head with good retention. Aroma's: sour berries, rye bread, roasted malts. Retronasal: lots of berries, roasted, rye bread. Flavour is moderate sweet, light fruity tart, and above moderate bitter. Alcohol doesn't feel like 13.8% at all. Medium bodied. Very bitter finish, almost puckering.

330ml bottle. Opaque, darkest brown colour with small, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, beige to tan head. Roasty, chocolately, dark malty and fruity aroma, notes of dark chocolate, fruity acidic notes of pomegranate, rowan berry, a touch of morello and unripe plum. Taste is sweet-ish, chocolately, roasty dark malty, minimally yeasty spicy with a marmite touch, a good deal of roasty and hoppy bitterness, fruity hints of cherry, plum, a touch of pomegranate, some booze. Oily texture, smooth and soft, minimally caustic palate due to alcohol and hop bitterness. Relatively simple and monotonous (fruit + chocolate), no development of flavours - too boozy. Rather drinkable nevertheless (or therefore).

Bottle. Black. Malt, peppermint and a hint of berries in the aroma. Full bodied, alcoholic. Malty sweetish, peppermint and berries. Tasty, but somewhat out of balance.

semi-opaque dark brown beer, residual bubbly pale tan head. Palate is remarkably light for the 13.8% smooth but comparatively thin dark malts, a little dark malt cream. Smooth liquorice but it develops a biting bitterness. Rowanberries come through on the light finish. Leaves behind a bit of liquorice aftertaste. Good but not outstanding.

On keg at the Hanging Bat. Appearance - opaque black with a lovely fawn head. Nose - prunes and chocolate. Some booze. Taste - booze definitely prevalent, but still getting prune notes and definitely chocolate. Palate - full bodied, rich and boozy. Overall - yeah, good.
