Nyborg Kongebryg is one of five beers we developed in collaboration with Nyborg Castle. It is a traditional pale ale, to which we added a royal, exotic touch of lemon: something only kings could afford in the Middle Ages. It has a lovely, amber colour that comes from the caramelised malts we have used for this beer. It has a wonderful citrus, banana aroma with a lovely, crisp, sweet, malty fragrance. The taste is full-bodied and sweet with penetrating citrus notes.

Big, wire and cork, 750ml bottle kindly shared by djoeye. Plain white head over a misty warm golden body, lacing rings down the glass. Moderate malt-fruity nose. Rather sweet taste of caramel, almond, and apricot, lightly spice. Dry and sweet malty ending. Okay, just a little too sweet in the long run. (Session with Finn and djoeye, PivotekaH7, Tromsø 23.07.2018).

Fra flaske spandert av djoeye. Delt med ham og Rune i H7. Gylden. Filmskum. Karamellaroma. Smaken søt frukt & krydder. Litt uvariert.

Small white head. Deep yellow body with light carbonation. Fruity earthy mealy aroma with musty meaty notes. Sweet cinnamon taste with herbal notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, fizzy mouthfeel. Sweetish earthy citric spice aftertaste with mealy notes. It’s not that bad, but has to be one of their worst beers. (0.75l bottle, from Superbrugsen, Copenhagen.)

750 ml bottle. Clear golden body with a decent off-white head. Aroma is mainly malt with a hint of butterscotch. The flavor is malty and also have a hint of butterscotch, but not really annoyingly. Still a very boring beer that seems to miss almost every kind of depth, its practically just straight forward malt. Medium body and moderate in aftertaste. Really boring this one.

75 cl. bottle, shared. Clear, dark golden colour with amber hues. Thin, white head. Sweet aroma with spices, citrus, caramel and grasses. Taste is bitter. Medium body with a creamy texture and an average carbonation. Finishes dry and bitter with citrus and spices. Decent enough.

Bottle 75 cl. Pours a hazy amber with an off-white head. Caramellish aroma with a metallic note. Rich, malty body, again quite some caramel and metal. Crude, hoppy finish - but just bitter, no real aromatics. 100813
