Poured from magnum at Black Xmas (2021 release). Near black with minimal beige head. Sasparillo, cinnamon, nutmeg, lots of spice, underlying chocolate and roast.

Aus der Flasche (Vintage 2017) im 2022-03 getrunken. Dieses Stout startet schon gleich in der Nase mit vielen Gewürzaromen. Aber wo ist die in den Rezessionen viel gelobten Bourbon BA Aromen? Nichts ist da! Am Gaumen kommt dann eine vollkommen unausgewogene Gewürz-Aroma-Keule die insbesondere durch die Nelken und Pigment dominiert wird. Ohne einen jeglichen Hauch einer Süße oder die typischen Bourbon BA Aromen hinterlassen die dominaten und somit unausgewogenen Gewürz-Aromen eine fiese Bitterkeit, die dann sogar dieses Stout fast untrinkbar macht. Es dieses vor paar Tagen gekaufte Stout schon zu alt? Es bleibt eine sehr enttäuschende Erfahrung.

pitch dark, smoth brown to dark brown head. must say it looks real beautiful. 12.7% abv 2020 bottle. spice wars, barrel aged on label. horizontal text about bourbun barrels and various kinds of age periods. extraordinarily smooth and well blended aroma, super smooth, very spicy with most notes from spices, but also a deep full roasted malty note. coconut is probably the thing that stands out the most. not sure if it is cocolut or if the spices and stuff just resembles coconut. flavor is roasted malts, all sorts of well balanced spices, some giving it a peppery tinge, others resembling the powder you might find on very exclusive chocolate candy. below the spices, a solid imperial stout that is also very smooth. This is like a gourmet dessert. it makes other pastry stouts appear very simplistic and cheap. Considering i am already quite bored with pastry stouts, never liked sweet stuff, this one getting a 4 is solid evidence it's something special.

2020 edition thanks to Kenny. It pours opaque black with a small dark tan head. The aroma is sweet, sticky, toasty, warming alcohol, chai latte, clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, cacao nibs, rocky road, marshmallow, vanilla and jammy berry. The taste is dry, bitter - sweet, toasty, rich roasted malt, umami, earthy, coffee, charred, umami, clove rock, almond, biscotti, vanilla, roasted coconut, chai latte and a touch of boozy alcohol with a spicy finale. Fulsome body and moderate carbonation. A bit too much spice, but fun anyhow.

Bottle from Beer Dome. Black with tan head. Loads of cinnamon and cloves. Touch of toffee, vanilla and bourbon. A bit thin and one-dimensional on the spicey side.

Flaska från Beer Republic, 2018. Svart med brunbeige krona. En oerhört distinkt doft av myggmedel som är svår att tänka bort. Kryddiga toner från kanel, nejlika/kryddnejlika och muskot som ger en lite djupare och murrigare grund, samtidigt som ingefäran ger en nästan lite citrusfruktig ton. I smaken kryddigt med främst kanel och nejlika i förgrunden, tillsammans med toffee, fat, Bourbon. Mja, blir kanske lite väl kryddigt.
