Cask (backlog). Deep rubyish black colour, small brown foamy head. Aroma is liquorice, mild sour wooden notes along with some chocolate. Flavour is rather similar, but also has some wood and a bit cellary and tart/sour notes to it as well.

(Cask at Gallows Bird Real Ale Festival ’13) The beer poured dark brown and clear. Its head was small and white. Aroma had coffee, roasted malts and molasses. Palate was light bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, molasses, sewer, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was burnt and bitter. A thin and unpleasant brew.

Very tasty stout with a full body and a light nose, and pleasant for a few.

Cask @ JDW Inverness
Very dark brown, off white tight thick head, good lacing
Aroma of dark caramel malts, dark toffee, very soft roast
Taste of very soft roast, plain chocolate, milk sugars, molasses, dark sugars
Palate - very soft carb, medium body, creamy smooth viscous. Finish of soft roast, light bitter, bit of chocolate, over gooey mouthfeel, leaves too much gooey residue in mouth

Cask at Hamilton Hall, JDW, London. Pours clear brown with a light, bubbly tan head. Pleasant roasted malt and coffee aroma. Light to medium sweet flavor with moderate roast, some burnt wood and faint baking cocoa. Light bodied with soft to fine carbonation. Mildly sweet finish with light roast, some burnt grass and wood, light tobacco and char, faint burnt mocha. Pretty nice beer overall, although the body is a bit light.
