Smashed Blueberry is a hybrid between a Porter and a Scotch Ale. It has a rich mouthfeel and a full, complex body.
Up front, there are notes of coffee and chocolate; beautifully accentuated by the aroma of blueberries.
The finish features a delicate balance of sweet fruit and dry hops.
This beer is best enjoyed at 55 degrees Fahrenheit.

Refrigerated brown bomber poured into a white wine glass. Pours black with small light brown head. Some lacing, thick body, medium carbonation, and beautiful blueberry aroma. Taste is dark chocolate, coffee, some blueberry, and some herbal hops. Pretty dry and salty. An imperial porter with some blueberries. Pretty good, but expected more.

Bottle, thanks to Ken @Bruce’s. It pours darkest brown with a medium light tan head. The nose is intense artificial blueberry, over-ripe berry and plastic. The taste is roasty, toast, earth, berry, sweet blueberry, dark fruit and light bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body and average carbonation. The smell is so sweet it makes me feel a bit ill. Tastes not too bad thankfully.

65 cl bottle @ Olutravintola Pikkulintu
Aroma is sweetish and nice with bilberry pie. Also hints of vanilla. Flavour has bbilberry juice, some roasted notes and hints of vanilla. Finishes slightly acidic. Unique and good.

’Paul takes a brown shower’ tasting at Bruce’s pad. Opaque dark brown beer, good pale tan head. Big blueberry nose. Palate is softish and dry. Brown malts, feels like a Scottish ale. Mild tangy blueberry, much less intense than the nose. Dry creamy malt finish. Hangs together okay. A bit different.

Bottle at Bruce’s, London - many thanks to Ken! Pours clear brown with a moderate, tan froth head. Nose holds loads of blueberries, blueberry pancakes, alcohol. Medium to big sweet flavor, lots of blueberry cake, moist cake, some brown sugar. Medium bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Lightly warming finish, lots more blueberry cake, blueberry coffee cake, bready malts, brown sugar, hints of maple. I didn’t expect to like this but I actually really do.

It pours a pure dark black and gives a small white head. The smell was centered around the chocolate and blueberries, combined very nicely. A bit of coffee and vanilla came out as the beer warmed. Some roasted malts also became slightly present. The taste was more centered around the coffee and roasted malts with the blueberries taking a background. The palate was very creamy with a slight tingle on the roof of my mouth. It had about a medium/heavy sort of feel. Overall, this was a superb beer and is actually the best beer Shipyard puts out.

Bouteille 625ml.
