Bottle: Poured a deep black color ale with nice dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of residual sugar with light roasted malt notes is quite nice. Taste is also dominated by some residual sugar notes with some roasted malt. Some dark fruits are also noticeable. Body is quite full with good carbonation with no real apparent alcohol. Easy drinking with just enough complexity which makes for a nice night cap.

Bottle bought 10/2010 at FS. Which lists the alcohol as 9.5%. What’s a few points between friends? Retains a nice strong ale nose from the bottle. Light roastiness, turning a little to sugar and just a hint of phenol, so I may have caught this just in time. A black color with a thin tan head, suggesting that should maybe have been listed as Imperial Porter. But tasting it, it does bring up some roast that more fits a stout. But quite mellowed. It has thickened up a bit with its heavy malt. Slight notes of cherry and peat. It even induces me to put an ear to the glass and hear its tiny bubbles fizz away. Worth the wait, but worth opening now, if you got one. Alcohol warmth fills in midway, still buoyed by lots of carbonation bubbles.
