Sample@Ølfestival København 2018 (Day 3) - pours black with a beige head. Roasted malty, slight burnt dark smoked malty notes, with chocolate, coffee, caramel, light hoppy backing, medium body, dry dark malty finish.

Flaske delt med Ovesen på Holmens aktivitetsdag: ibenholdt med beige skum. Røkmalt, torv, lakridschokolade i aroma og smag. Middels fylde, og med mild bitterhed i eftersmagen, som minder om lakrids og kreosot. Grundsmørning for treski?

Bottle shared with JMD at HNB 06.05.17. Ebony. Pale brown head. Aroma of smoked malt, roasted malt, vanilla and dark chocolate. Similar taste, with medium bitterness.

33 cl bottle at dia’legd bar, Copenhagen. Pitch black with a thin, tanned head. Sweet aroma with smoked notes, ham, dark malts, butterscotch, caramel and liquorice. Taste is sweet-smoked. Medium body with a creamy texture and a flat carbonation. As always with the Refsvindinge beers, palate doesn’t feel right. Finishes smoked with liquorice and caramel malts. One of the better efforts from Refsvindinge brewery.

Negra casi. Sin espuma. Fuerte aroma a tabaco. En boca, mezcla de liquido dulce y tabaco. Muy poco agradable, y bastante plana de textura (algo aguada). Defrauda.

Medium dark brown head. Opaque black body goes hazy dark brown at edges. Beechwood smoke and roasty licorice aroma with herbal floral notes. Sweetish roasty smoky taste with chocolatey notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft, flat mouthfeel. Sweetish roasty smoky chocolatey aftertaste with wild berries and fruit. The aroma is great, and the initial flavour is good, but in the aftertaste the same flavours somehow feel more like juice than beer. Maybe a bit more hops? A real curate’s egg, this. (0.33l bottle, from somewhere in Barcelona.)

Bottle @ Brewery. Pours nearly black with a creamy head. Smoked and roasty nose and flavor. A bit phenolic also. Cigarette smoke. Medium bodied.

330ml bottle, trade with Skinnyviking. Pitch black body. Tan-coloured head reduced to nothing at all. Aroma is peaty with hints of tobacco. Smoked malty flavour supported by chocolate malts as well as bittering liquorice towards the ending, semi-dry. Medium bodied. Pleasant (hotel room, Copenhagen 23.03.2013).

Draft at BBF. Almost black, brown head. Aroma of tobacco, burning leather. Taste is chewy burnt toacco, espresso, leather. Good stuff.
