24th June 2016: hand-pulled half-pint in The Pheasant, Wellington Shropshire. Another golden beer from Mallinsons, the name of course gives away the flavour, so another golden beer from Mallinsons with a citrus taste. Samey, with the Citra hops doing what they do best (if you like citrusy beers).

Cask at beer emporium Bristol. Clear golden. Small white head. Aroma is base cereal, zippy lemon. Flavour is semi sweet caramel, and base grains, harsh lemon bitterness. Out of balance bitterness, rough round the edges bitter lemon. Palate is decent cask condition, semi sweet.

Bottle from Bottle Shop, Cheadle Hulme [051114]
Pale straw, slight haze, frothy white head, good head retention
Aroma - Superb fresh grapefruit, some tropical fruit, little malt, the hops speak for themselves, vibrant fresh citrus zest nose
Taste of really fresh grapefruit zest, grapefruit juice , lots of superb fresh bitter grapefruit citrus zest, very light sweet pale malt, so fresh, great flavour for the abv
Palate - Light body, bitter zest, light sweet pale malts. Finish of fresh grapefruit bitter zest
Overall - A superb Golden Ale, just so well made. Not had it on cask, but I reckon the bottle version is best

(Cask at Old Fountain, Old Street, London, 21 Nov 2013) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, malty nose with citrus, peaches, tropical fruit and floral hops. Fruity, malty taste with notes of citrus, peaches, grass, soft and chewy malt and a balanced grassy/floral bitterness in the finish. Light body, with a touch of sweetness. Refreshing and highly drinkable. Quite nice.
