Cask @ The Lade Inn, Kilmahog. Pours dark, small tan head. Nose is roasty, but body is rather thin and perhaps watery, some coffee and ash. Condition not particularly great with some tired off-flavours. Couldn’t finish the half. Need to re-rate.

Bottle at home. It pours very dark brown with a medium beige head. The nose is roasted malt, dark chocolate, earth, treacle, berry and dark fruit. The taste is roasted malt, ash, coffee, toast, earth and oat with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Smooth, well balanced and very drinkable.

50cl bottle from Guid Cheese Shop, St Andrews. Pours opaque black with a nice head much of which hangs around. The nose has dark chocolate and cream. The taste has dark crumbled chocolate and a dry liquorice note that endures. The palate is medium bodied with a big bitter creamy texture and a dry burnt finish. Overall, good but lacks some drinkability.
