Tap. Pours pitch black, small tan head, great lacing. Aroma is bourbon, light roast, coffee, cocoa. Flavor the same- bit of anise, light sweet, medium bitter, some astringence, bourbon and woody notes pleasing, not overpowering. Wonderful bourbon finish. Full body, creamy, a bit hot, but smoother than the regular.

On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad, pours jet black with a small brown head. Aroma of strong bourbon barrels, and subdued chocolate and roast. Flavour is very strong, with quite a bit of fruit, fusels, and loads of bourbon. Lots of jagged edges, making this exceedingly difficult to drink. Much prefer the regular Night Rider.

Draught @ Pizza Port, Carlsbad, CA
Pours pitch black with a small tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, vanilla, oak, alcohol, chocolate and licorice. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and medium bitter with a long warm, vanilla, oak and roasted finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

On tap at the Carlsbad brewpub. A black one, with a tan head. The aroma is pretty much as the regular Night Rider, but with vanilla and bourbon. Sweeter on the palate, at least it feels so. Boozy and full bodied, with a nice carbonation level. Some warmth. A nice one this as well, but I prefer the regular edition. 130813

Tap @ Boulder Strong Ale Fest 2013. Pours a black appearance with a dark brown head. Bourbon, dark chocolate, light coffee, roasty malty, light vanilla aroma. Fairly smooth whiskey, cocoa, fudge, roasty malty, caramel, woody, vanilla flavor with some warming alcohol on the finish. Very nice stuff.
