330 ml bottle. Pours a dark reddish amber with medium head of big bubbles. Aromas of brown sugar, toasted malts and vinous/sour fruit notes. Flavors of slightly sour dark fruit, roasted malt, and port. As per the gold cap, definite De Molen touch. Again, very nice; just a bit smoother than the gold cap.

(Bottle, MacKinlay’s Inn, Stockholm) Reddish amber colour with lasting, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with citrus, orange peel, dried fruit and candy sugar. Fairly vinous. Malty, fruity taste with notes of dried fruit, apricots, orange peel, a touch of Chardonnay wine and a vinous and warming finish with a generous resinous bitterness. Full body, quite sweet. Hardly subtle, but very nice in moderate amounts.

Bottle from Wine & Cheese in Clayton, MO. Pours hazy amber with a 3 finger foamy beige head. Aromas of brown sugar and grape/wine. Near full bodied. Flavor is vinous, roast malt, brown sugar and cooked stone fruit. Maybe a bit of tropical fruit. It’s not exactly dry, but not exactly sweet. Very pleasing.

Bottle @ Odense September Tasting, 2012. Courtesy of Chrisv10. Pours ruby amber with a large head. Vinous nose. Lots of berries, oak and hops in the nose. Smooth and full bodied. Fruity hoppy and sticky flavor with a touch of oak and smooth red wine. A tiny bit of metal in the late finish. Very enjoyable.

11.2 oz. bottle, pours a beautiful ruby red with a medium beige head. Aroma of red wine barrels, candied sugar and some sherry-like liqueur. Flavour is dominated by the sherry and red wines upfront, with some medium sweetness that becomes more pronounced with each additional sip. Medium complexity and well-balanced, though I'd prefer it to be dryer. Solid, but I prefer the original incarnation.

Bottle with a red cap and a best before of 2015. Pours with a murky red-bloody hue body with a very large off-white head that slowly fades. Aromas are of berries and vinous notes, lightly vegital and peppery red wine, floral, zesty, tropical fruit (guava and passionfruit), jammy, berries, vinous with alcohol. Flavors are very bitter, low malt, light acidity, vinous, bready and boozy, sharp tannin, earthy, peppery, red wine. The flavors just don’t meld particularly well. A bit of berries in the finish, soapy, harsh, bitter balance. Very lively carbonation, pretty dry, tannic, medium bodied and warming. I think I preferred the regular version if memory serves correctly.
