Zeven är vår version av en black saison. Ölstilen saison kommer från Vallonien där man under hösten och vintern bryggde ett uppfriskande öl som skördearbetarna skulle kunna läska sig med under den heta skördetiden. Utvandrande valloner och andra tog med sig den här vanan till Amerika där ölstilen kom att påverkas av nya influenser, som att göra den mera välhumlad, och med tiden blev den känd som farmhouse ale.

Nu för tiden, när förvaringsmöjligheterna är bättre, bryggs det saison och farmhouse ale hela året runt. Vi på Slottskällan ville göra vår saison mörk och när du häller upp den kommer du att märka att den är vackert rubinröd med dragning åt mörkbrunt. Doften är stor och trevlig med syrliga toner som snabbt övergår i mangoliknande sötma med brända inslag, för att sedan klinga ut i en diskret jästighet. Smaken är snällt sötsyrlig med brända och jästiga toner som ligger kvar länge i munnen.

Användning: Mycket god till olika ostar, ackompanjerade med dijonsenap och sellerisalt.

Innehåll: Två sorters malt: Pilsner- och svartmalt.

Tre sorters humle: Northen Brewer, East Kent Golding och Celeia.

(Bottle) Reddish amber colour, slightly hazy, with lasting beige head. Fruity, malty nose with raspberries, chocolate, ripe fruit, coffee, apricots and caramel. Malty, fruity taste with notes of dried fruit, dark bread, chocolate, coffee, raspberries and blood orange. Gentle spicy bitterness. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. A bit different, but quite nice.

Bottle @ Christers. Pours amber with a small offwhite head. Aroma of malt, light sourness, fruit, grapes. Flavor is malt, little caramel, sweet fruit, grapes. Medium body, lively carbonation. 010813

Bottle @ Aarhus tasting. Hazy amber with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, light fruity, light yeasty and light spicy. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and moderate bitter finish. 010813

Bottle. Clear dark amber with small tan head. Aroma is malt, yeast, spices, caramel and fruit. Flavour is malt, yeast, over carbonated, caramel, fruit, spices, medium sweet and a little bitter.

Bottle. Nice creamy head with good duration. Color is amber. Aroma and taste are caramel, fruits, malt and hops.

Bottle 0.33l at Oluthuone Leskinen, Oulu. BBE 130305. Colour is slightly reddish brown with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Sourness, berries, dryness and citrus. Quite weird.

Smell of burnt toast and apple. Dark brown, high beige head. Very bitter hit to start with, gets quickly sweet. Oily with very lively carbon. Aromas of cola, alcohol, rum, sugar, some rubber.

Bottle at ChrisO Holiday Tasting, London. Pours brown with a big, tan cream head. Brown bread in the nose, some sugars. Medium sweet flavor with ripening fruits and further brown bread malts. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. Fairly sweet to finish with toasty sugars, bready malts, little else. OK overall.

Draft. A dark red beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of over ripe fruits, malt, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and over ripe fruits, leading to a dry finish.
