Bij Muifel zijn we allemaal echte whisky liefhebbers. Het leek ons dus erg interessant om onze topper Zuster Agatha te infuseren met een mooie whisky.
Het toevoegen van deze (licht rokerige) Schotse malt whisky Finlaggan net voor het bottelen heeft een prachtige smaakverdieping gegeven aan de toch al zo rijke Zuster Agatha. Tonen van vanille, hout en een vleugje kersen geven dit quadrupel bier nóg meer karakter. De subtiele rooksmaken uit de whisky hebben een heerlijke rafelrandje toegevoegd aan onze Zuster Agatha.

A follow-up quadrupel for me from this brewery, I got the 33 cl bottle from Smaakhuis quite a while ago. The Straffe Hendrik tulip glass I found in Bruges gets the duty this early evening. The body is copper in color and finished by a proper top of parchment tan foam. I smell subtle dark fruit, malt, earth and a hint of whisky booziness. I have a drink. Yes, I do get plenty of whisky, malt again certainly, a touch of plums, oak, a very small toffee sweetness as the beer warms up and leather. I do not care much for scotch whisky but I have developed a taste for it in quads. Decent enough brew.

Medicine, apothecary, clove, liquorice, candied fig, cheap whisky. Sweet fig & pear, quickly turning very medicinal & phenolic again (liquorice). Herbal hops, clove, boozy cheap whisky-like alcohol. Thin syrupy texture. Lacks body and structure, too bad.

7/III/25 - 33cl bottle from Beerinabox (webshop, NL), shared @ Gentse Biervereniging adventskalender-tasting, BB: IX/2027, 2024 vintage (2025-246)
Clear red brown beer, small creamy beige head, a little stable, a bit adhesive. Aroma: banana, yeasty, some whisky, pretty peated, alcohol, sulphur touch, some esters, hint of bubble gum. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: lots and lots of whisky, bitter, alcohol, very peated, slightly sweet, oxidized, dry, dusty. Aftertaste: more alcohol, caramel, banana, a bit sweet, meh.

Bottle from Beer in a Box. Fairly smooth with notes of whiskey and soft smoke. Medium sweet with a little alcohol in the finish. Enjoyable enough.
