Thanks, microakes! Has a bright amber colour, though not much head. Has a light maple nose, but on the palate it’s just a bit snappy, touch of maple, with a light crackery character. These are all fairly typical maple beer characteristics, but they are well-balanced and integrated with the base beer. Still sold not on maple beer conceptually though - those characteristics aren’t necessarily what I desire in a beer.

Keg at the brewery. It pours clear deep amber with a thick off-white head. The nose is big hit of pancakes drizzled with sweet maple syrup, oily, earthy, toasty brown sugar, brown bread, pretzel and light spice. The taste is bitter, earthy, toasted malt, wood, resin, mild astringency, leather, oily, peppercorn, maple and fruit cake with some alcohol warmth on the finish. Medium+ body and moderate carbonation. A bit chewy on the mouth-feel. The aroma is quite intoxicating after a while. Not so sure on this one.

Bottle 500ml.Clear medium to dark orange amber colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, sweet malt, moderate to heavy maple syrup. Flavour is light heavy sweet and light moderate bitter with a long duration, maple, burnt syrup bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20120324]

Bottle from Brewery Creek, Vancouver
Hazy amber color, almost no head. It has a nice aroma of malple syrup and caramel coated nuts. Lean body, dry mouthfeel, caramel flavor with a nutty edge, but also light sourness.
Too much fermentation left no sugar and body to talk about.

Bottle @ Miss January / AA Meeting Afterparty Tasting, March 2012. Pours hazy amber with a small creamy head. Nose is extremely sweet. Maple syrup, caramel and sugar. Flavor likewise. Odd..

Amber, small beige head. Big pungent maple nose.Astringent start, acetic maple mid and end, faintly hopped. Poor effort Only got a 10 due to a decent nose.

Bottle: Poured a medium amber color ale with a large foamy head with average retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of light maple syrup with a nice medium caramel malt base. Taste is a nice enough mix between some maple notes with balanced sweetness and a standard caramel malt backbone. Body is about average with OK carbonation. Nothing necessarily special about this one but still better then most maple based beers out there.

500ml Bottle brought home from the Halifax. Pours out a dark amber topped with a off-white head. Aroma was sweet maple syrup, brown sugar, and some vanilla. Taste was more of the sweetness with a light bitter end.
