I will be able to choke down the rest of the six-pack but this is definitely a case of curiosity gone awry. Tasted smoky and almost unnoticeably sweet. Very watery. Originally rated on Ratebeer 5/25/07. First ever RateBeer review.

bottle - Pours dark brown with a head. The aroma is mild caramel malts. The flavor is sweet caramel and maybe a little dark fruit. The body is thin to medium and the finish reveals a little hops. It’s not bad, though my expectations for dunkels are a little higher.

Poured a slightly water black with a whispy white head. Smells of molasses and nuts. The flavor is a little strange considering the appearance. Very alcoholic flavor, almost like it was brewed in the same tanks as tequila. It’s that agave finish that made me throw this beer out. Sorry.

Yuck. Tastes like a regular old swill pale lager, very mild with a light funky sourness that is very off-putting. Cobwebby. The only hints that its a dunkel is a touch of caramel. This really should be called an ’american dark’, not a dunkel. Not even close. Regardless of style, its pretty bad.

Pretty classy label, black with gold fringes and red letters. Cerveza tells me it is from mexico but no, how naive, it is from Spain? Well I guess they speak Spanish down there in Mexico. 11.15 oz brown bottle. This is even less beer than the 11.2 oz Euro bottle!. Pours dark brown, very surprised, was expecting something like a pale lager. I didn’t see the Negra on it. Has a slight skunk aroma and that is it, no other complex smells in there. Quite a personality impact on the flavor burst. Yes yer typical dunkel, roastyness and malty flairs. I have not seen this by the case at my distributor. I am pleased at the taste. Seems to have more alcohol than is stated. It kind of sticks out at you. The finish is a bit too bitter malty/hoppy for me. Reminds me a little of mild stout or porter and it lingers for a while. This may make it not too much of a session beer. Good overall first impression. There are better dunkels out there but this is worth tasting.

(Bottle 33 cl) Very dark brown with a reddish hue and a creamy, beige head leaving laces. Aroma of roasted malt. Medium-bodied with roasted malt, but nothing burned here. Dry as a bone, no sweetness at all to be detected. Dry, light bitter finish. 140107

Bottle 0,33l. Deep brown colured. Almost black. A creamy head. Faint aroma of chocolate. Strange flavour of cardboard. Sweet bitter aftertaste with fruity hints. Thanks to Egil Børge for taking the bottle with him from Spain.

330ml bottle sampled with Finn. Deep rusty body. Off-White foam that last for a while. Roasted grainy aroma. Flavour is dominated by burnt, dark malts, chocolate and hints of brown sugar. Medium sweetness. Rather watered (25.10.2006).
