Bottle from GBBF 2011 drunk at home. Paleish clear gold with lasting white head. Touch of cereal on aroma. Touch or raw alcohol. It’s got a bit of creamy mouthfeel but the alcohol is really quite raw on the finish. Very faint touch of lemon right on finish. Alcohol is quite warming. Yes a touch obvious, but it does remind me of a european strong lager with a touch more bitterness on the finish than normal. Not great, but just about ok.

Tap at the brewery - no sir, I did not like this - first of all, it was way too sweet, with a heavy, honey-ish character - secondly, the hops tasted old and nearly rotting - there was an unpleasant vegetal character in the background, as well as a skuny quality - a booziness reminiscent of malt liquor - meh.

Courtesy of vasdef42. Pours golden, white head. Aroma is rather sweet Taste lightly hoppy and malty. Sugary with fruits notes (lemon/orange). Malty aftertaste, medium carbonation with a crisp finish. Good balance of malts and hops, could notice some corn as well. A fine pilsner, good abv.

12oz bottle -pours a foamy retaining white head and yellow/gold color. Aroma is light malt/grainy, doughy, grassy/earthy (continental) hops. Taste is malt/grainy, doughy, grassy/earthy/floral/spicy/lemon (continental) hops, creamy and crisp. Good carbonation. Good session ale vs. the distinct strong (same rating) beer Sam Adams ’07 Imperial Pilsner. Thanks to chesky-SD via Joe-jwc215 for the trade.

Bottle at Stockholm Beer Festival 2007
Light blond color. Hay aroma, with some malt. Very sweet, quite strong bitterness, round mouthfeel, but not impressive.

Pale yellow color, small creamy white head. Grassy, a bit papery nose. Sweet liquerish palate, very grassy and hayish flavor. Imperial pilsner? A bit too simple = lots of sweetness and Sazz hops, not enough to impress.

Bottled@SBWF2007. Deep golden colour, not much head. Aroma is pilsish, buttery and some alcohol. Flavour is alcohol, fruityness, hoppyness and quite pleasant. Wellbalanced and also has some slight salty notes.

Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival. Hazy golden, small head. Grassy hbuttery nose. Sweet with chewy malt. Sugar tries to hide the alcohol, but doesn’t do a very good job, letting some vegetables comes through as well. Salty finish. Why call a bold, sweet lager pilsner?

Pour is a golden with a small white head. Aroma is deffinatly citrus with a hoppy back bone. Flavor is a bit corny and alcohol. It has a super thick mouthfeel that keps remminding me of a malt liquor. This is tough to get down.

This is weird. Pours an appealing yellow gold color with a big webby head. But in the glass, I see no rising bubbles. Aroma has hops but they’re indistinct - I get lemon and thyme. Is it saaz? I need more. There’s a grainy breadiness that’s more easily apparent in the nose. Acetaldehyde? More weird is the flavor. Big husky sweet graininess, with a touch of fusel alcohol, and a milder spicy hop, and low levels of bitterness in the finish. Heavy and sticky, not drinkable like a good pilsner. We need to call these double pilsners for what they are: hoppy malt liquors. No thanks.
