A premium English ale, full-flavoured and bitter. Very quaffable, it's and excellent session beer and rewards repeated sampling. Light chestnut in colour, it has a subtle citrus aroma and a dry finish with excellent levels of bitterness in the English style.

Cask at Crewe Dog, Crewe. Pours golden yellow with medium sized foamy off-white head and good lacing. The aroma is mainly floral hops plus traces of malts and marmalade. In the mouth it is quite bitter with a creamy texture but also a little underlying sweetness. Flavour has mixed hops, oranges and lemon rind with hints of melon and spice coming through later leading to a dry and slightly sticky finish. It’s reasonable.

Cask at GBBF 2015. It pours clear amber with a small white head. The nose is bitter-sweet, doughy, grainy, cereal, honey, brioche and stone fruit. The taste is toasty, bitter-sweet, grainy, grass, bread, orange, lemon rind and spice with a dry, sort of sweet finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Simple golden bitter. OK, but forgettable.

Cask at GBBF 2015, day 1 - London. Pours clear, deep gold with a foamy white head. A bit of ripe citrus and pale bread in the aroma. Light-medium sweet flavor, with some grainy bread, ripe citrus, bitter orange rind. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation; good condition. Nicely balanced finish, a little resinous, with more rindy orange and bread. Very good.

Cask at GBBF ’15, day 1, 11/08/15. Golden orange with moderate off white spotting. Nose is melon, toasted malt, orange zest. Taste comprises straw, toasted notes, bitter citrics. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok ... more veering towards a GB than a bitter for me.

Cask at Pigs Ear. Hazy gold - amber beer. Residual white bubbles for a head. Dry palate. Slightly odd tasting beer with a touch of something chemical and unnatural. Other than that it’s okay with reasonable marmalade hop. Dry finish.
