Beer and music are a great combination and in Ed Cosens, from Reverend & the Makers, you have an accomplished musician with a great passion for home brewing. After the success of working with Ed on a Reverend Summer Ale and an American Brown, we have come together for a third time to celebrate the launch of the band’s new album, ’Mirrors’. The beer pours a bright gold in colour with a tropical aroma and flavours of grapefruit, sherbet and citrus.

Pours a slightly hazy and pale yellow color, topped with a medium white head, not so lasting. Very lovely and easy to pick up aroma of tropical fruits, sweet, pineapple and some mild citruses. Taste is moderately bitter with some citrusy fruit presence. Very fresh and with a short aftertaste. Just what I like in the summer.

Bottle at home in London - picked up at Cotteridge Wines during the weekend. Pours crystal clear yellow, lightly effervescent, with a foamy, white head. Dry and crispy biscuits in the nose, some lemon peel, pithy grapefruit, pine needles. Light sweet flavour with further biscuity pale malts, flinty minerals, rindy citrus, more lemon peel and pithy grapefruit, hay, pale grains. Light bodied with average carbonation. Nicely balanced on the finish, with mild grassy bitterness, more biscuity sweetness, pale grains, straw, citrus peel. Perhaps a little bit too ’clinical’, but overall it’s very drinkable stuff.

50cl bottle from Westholme Stores, Goring. A really pale gold colour with a thin scummy looking white head; musty tropical fruit aroma; big tropical fruit taste - sweet mango, some lime juice; but the finish is a bit of let down with the citrusy bitterness fading quickly.

Clear, yellow slightly lively beer with a thin white head. Very light grassy aroma with a bit of tangy fruit. Flavour starts out fairly nondeScript. A bit of citrusy hop and not much else but it slowly starts to kick in as you go through. Ends up being surprisingly sharp, dry and bitter in the aftertaste. I was quite disappointed at the first mouthful but it comes into its own as you drink through it.

Flavour of grapefruit, tonic water, lime and grain. Thin to medium body with an oily mouthfeel. Light fizz. Clean, refreshing and incredibly easy to drink.
