On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Deep reddish brown colour, moderate creamy off-white head. Pleasant aroma of fruity hops, hints of blackberries and pine, with a subdued but complex malt profile in the background. The flavour has first a broad malt profile with some toasted and mildly roasted notes, a hint of chocolate, but the beer is not very sweet. Then the hops take over, with fruity and mildly resinous notes, and a moderate bitterness in the finish. Decent beer.

From a 500ml bottle on 27/5/2012. Pours a cloudy dark amber, with a small head. Has a moderate aroma of dark fruit and mild hops. Flavour wise, it’s got lots of caramel malt and a good dose of fruity hops. This is an enjoyable, slightly different, though relatively subtle IPA

Bottled @ Ølfestival København

Pours dark red with a foamy head. Aroma of biscuity malts, grassy hops and caramel. Taste is malty and biscuity with some English hops and caramel. Finish is malty and slightly fruity. Okay.

Big slightly coarse beige head rises out of the glass. Clear red-amber body with strong carbonation. Dusty wooden roasty aroma is very weak, with resiny notes. Dry-sweet resiny citric taste with metallic notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel with slight astringence. Dryish minty resiny roasty aftertaste with wooden spicy notes. It’s OK, but a bit harsh while the flavours are rather subdued. I doubt this is what they tried to do. (0.5l bottle, wine monopoly, Vika, Oslo.)

Pours dark copper with a large, lasting head.Nose shows nutty malt, caramel, golden syrup, soft spicy hops and brown sugar. Pretty rich and moreish.Similar rich flavours, lots of nutty malt and caramel followed by spicy hops and an assertive bitterness.Body seems a bit thick, and there’s not enough carbonation. Not too much of a hop presence, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Bottle. Copper with a large beige head. Gentle aroma is bready with light toffee, blackberries, grapefruit. Sweet with caramel, berries, pears. Dryish at the end with a little bitterness. Would have guessed this a 5.5% ESB, but it’s tasty enough.
