Cask. Shakespeare’s, Sheffield. Clear, dark, chestnut brown. Thin, dense, sticky, light tan head. Aroma is robust, bitter grapefruit. Lots of pine resin. Dark berry fruits. Notes of roast malts. Taste is pithy bitter. Some fruity sweetness. Plenty of body. Soft fizz. Finishes pithy, tangy bitter, with a drying close.

Cask at the Old Coffee House, Brodies - London. Pours clear brown with a foamy, tan head. Good roasted malt aroma, some burnt pine, orange peel and cocoa. Light-medium sweet, with notes of torched flowers, burnt toast, bittersweet baking cocoa, grass, rindy citrus. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly resinous on the finish, with more baking cocoa, earth, burnt grass, rindy bitter citrus fruits, subtle oily pine. A good ’session CDA’.

Cask at the Old Coffee House. It pours near black with a small, bubbly off-white head. The nose is fresh, juicy pine, orange marmalade, tropical fruits, orange squash, rich roast and some liquorice/aniseed. The taste is pretty bitter upfront, charred roasted malts, burnt pine, dark fruits, berry skin, mild astringency, grapefruit rind and peppery spice with linger bitter - roasted finish. Light - medium body and soft carbonation. Good depth of flavour for the abv. Nice work.
