Porter Brewed with Northern Michigan Sweet Black Cherries
Dark, velvety, sweet, and toasty. Black Cherry Porter entered the Short’s-iverse as part of our Imperial Beer Series in 2007. We coulda dumped black cherry puree into a light, refreshing beer, but Joe had an itch for something more robust. The deep, rich flavors of an Imperial Porter are the perfect compliment to our regions national export, and Black Cherry Porter was made and quickly became a Pub favorite.

18.5.2013, 0,35l bottle @ home:
Nice foamy cocoa-cherry colored head, but falls a little to fast. Aroma is rich, roasted coffee, soy sauce, dark berries, grass, salty caramel, hay. Taste is very harsh, lots of metal, coffee, dark berries, grass, hay. Medium bitterness. Not good at all.

Draft to pint. Nice variation on the classic porter taste; the black cherry makes it different, but not so much that it is a turn-off. Yes, flavor does come around as it warms up. It was served to me chllled, but it should be served only slightly chilled.

Bottle shared by Arve_Christian (thanks!). Pretty black with a small beige head. Aroma is a strange mix of cherries and other dark fruits with chocolate and hints of coffee and some roasty notes. Medium body. Fruity and malty with a lightly sour and bitter finish. Decent, but not quite my kind of beer I guess. (2012-11-09)

Bottle. Sweet milk chocolate, coffee, and cherry aroma. Black with a small brown head. Coffee, cherry, charcoal, light acidic, and a little chocolate flavor. Medium body, lively carbonation. This is so well done that I liked it, despite the fact that I hate cherry flavor.

Bottle at Pibar, Lausanne
Black color, with generous brown head, compact. Initially the aroma is metallic, blood, then it tunes to some better chocolate and fruits. Good chocolate and caramel flavor, with mild and nice fruit and acidity. Moderate bitterness. Very good when warmer.

Opaque black beer. Chocolate brown head. Lightly sour - toasted malt nose. Softish dry palate. Sourish dark malt, not bitter, not too dry. This is a light porter. There is a fruity tone but Black Cherry? Pretty subtle. Finishes with more sourish malt and a pinch of chocolate. Drinkable porter.

A pleasant hint of cherries and a grain or two of salt. A touch of smoked malt resulting in a soft mouthfeel. Must try this one again. Nytt forsøk på Cardinaltreff okt-13: interessante saker. Røykmalten serverer førsteinntrykket, men når den gtreffer ganen er det krisebærene som dominerer.
