A smooth stout using lactose and Brazilian Cachoeira da Grama wholebean coffee from HasBean. Chocolate and roast flavours are softened by silky milk sugars, finishing on nutty, fruity coffee notes.

Coffee milk stout by this renowned English craft brewery, draught at Dok Brewing Festival. Pale greyish beige, mousy, thinnish and irregular, open head on a blackish beer with translucent chestnut brown hue and ochre-ish edges. Aroma strongly dominated by coffee in the form of fresh espresso and coffee grounds, milk powder, iron shavings, melting 'fondant' chocolate, candied figs, hints of blood, dried thyme and rainwater. Sweet onset, candied fig, glazed pear, quite sharpish carb for the style, still supple and creamy mouthfeel with clear lactose flavour (sweet, milk powder), caramelly and sweetish hazelnutty malt underground soaked in lactose but even more so in coffee, with a very aromatic, 'real' and espresso-like coffee effect without the roasted bitterness; light metallic touch too, milky-creamy-sweet effect lingering in the finish without any hop bitterness worth mentioning. Dessert beer, with the aromatic coffee effect as its strength but the somewhat thinnish and metallic body as its weakness. Expected more from this brewery, to be honest.

Clear dark brown beer, small creamy beige head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: coffee, mocha, caramel, roasted. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: lots and lots of coffee, soft roast, caramel, bit malty, grains, hay. Aftertaste: roasted, lots of cold coffee, coffee grit, pretty bitter. Not the biggest fan of coffee beers, here…

Totally black. 6 finger head. Pepper and cinnamon aroma. Very thin. Light body. A little creamy. Really good nightcap. It’s so incredibly balanced.

330 ml bottle, gyle #000370, from Ales By Mail. ABV is 4.7%. Black colour, huge beige head, a bit overcarbonated. Aroma of roast malts, coffee (Caballero coffee from Honduras), dark chocolate and lactose. Roasty flavour made smoother by the lactose, but the beer is not really sweet. Distinct notes of coffee. Nicely balanced bittering hops.
